TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE Track Specialist/ Coach BCNY’s Track Specialist/ Coach will plan, organize, and run after school track sessions for upper Explorers (8 & 9 year olds) and Junior members (10-13 years old). Through teaching the sport of track, Coaches will reinforce life skills such as teamwork, cooperation, sportsmanship, and communication. In addition, once coaches have taught their students track concepts, they have the opportunity to have them participate in track meets and competitions to compete against other clubhouses and community based organizations.
· Support the planning, implementation and supervision of physical activities including but not limited to learning, leadership, life skills and enrichment for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and practice.
· Develops and implements track program by overseeing gym programs; assisting in the schedule of classes; teaching classes; and playing games with youth.
· Assist with field trips, competitions, or other experiential activities, and guide members in learning from those activities.
· Help maintain an orderly, friendly and safe atmosphere for members and staff.
· Assist with daily set-up, daily clean up, and transportation.
· Model and enforce adherence to sound health and safety practices for each member.
· Engage with members and use appropriate strategies to preemptively defuse inappropriate behavior and encourage positive interactions.
COMPETENCIES Planning, Organizing, Professionalism, Dependability, Problem Solving, Teamwork, Innovation EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or 6 months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience; Sophomore level or higher preferred; Experience running or coaching track; DOH and DOE fingerprinted desirable; First Aid and CPR Certification ideal; Demonstrated student-client centered philosophy and approach; Ability to interact easily with members and to articulate the role of a fitness and wellness in physical department as necessary; Must have experience working with youth populations in either a community-based organization, health center, or school-based setting; Knowledge of sports equipment, physical fitness and safety.

The Boys’ Club of New York (BCNY) is an after-school community-based youth development nonprofit based in New York City. Position Summary
Are you passionate about helping youth develop and reach their life goals? Do you enjoy working in a vibrant fast-paced office? The Program Development Team develops and oversees high-impact youth development programs; and fundraises to support them. To provide the best programs possible for the boys and young men we serve, we seek a Program and Development Intern to support this work. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience in every aspect of program management and fundraising, from implementing programs to reaching out to community members and identifying funding opportunities.
The ideal candidate is passionate about making a difference through creating fun, enriching, and educational programs for boys. Do you want to learn new skills and work directly with youth? Are you an organized, independent worker with great follow-through and the ability to take the ball and run with it? If so, this position is a great fit for you! This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours, relevant for anyone who seeks work experience in the non-profit sector in youth development, and/or grant writing and development.
Essential Position Functions
§ Provide support to youth participating in a grant-funded workforce internship program

§ Assist with program curriculum development

Position Summary

The Program Development Team develops and oversees high-impact youth development programs; and fundraises to support them. To provide the best programs possible for the boys and young men we serve, we seek a Program and Development Intern to support this work. In this position, you will gain hands-on experience in every aspect of program management and fundraising, from implementing programs to reaching out to community members and identifying funding opportunities.
The ideal candidate is passionate about making a difference through creating fun, enriching, and educational programs for boys. Do you want to learn new skills and work directly with youth? TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE Operations Assistant The Operations Assistant will perform a variety of duties to ensure the smooth and efficient operations of the Clubhouse facilities during program hours. This role will serve as a “jack of all trades” supporting program operations that may include youth group management, lesson implementation, supply distribution, program area supervision, member supervision and visitor relations.
· Monitor and positively interact with members at all times to ensure members are safe and engaged.
· Record hourly ratio counts, ensure members are scanning into areas, and maintain all required evaluation information.
· Provide engaging and informative clubhouse tours to visitors, potential members, parents and community.
· Monitor program areas to include, but not limited to entry and exit ways, locker rooms, coat check.
· Participate with group in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including games, arts and crafts, theatre, computer lab, swimming, and field trips.
· Ensure proper care of all materials takes place, organize game room and report any misused or damaged materials.

TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE Residential Group Leader The Residential Group Leader is responsible for the direct guidance, supervision, and safety of youth under their care, while ensuring an engaging and intellectually stimulating camper experience. He/ she will serve as a model for youth by building rapport with campers through positive interactions in program activities. The Residential Group Leader will live in the cabins with their assigned campers and are responsible for their safety and well-being at all times.
· Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of a group of 14-20 boys with another Residential Group Leader.
· Plan and implement age-appropriate curriculum of interactive challenges, activities and games for campers that lead to campers developing core competencies.
· Ensure campers arrive on time for all classes and activities.
· Provide guidance, problem-solving facilitation, and behavior modification direction as needed.
· Participate with group in a variety of indoor and outdoor activities, including games, arts and crafts, drama, computer lab, swimming, and ropes course.
· Assist with daily set-up, daily clean up, and transportation to and from camp.
· Eat all meals with assigned campers; work closely with that cabin team, stressing the importance of community, sportsmanship and appropriate behavior at all times.
· Assist with academic, leadership, and athletics programs as requested.
· Ensure proper care of all area materials, organize space and report any misused or damaged materials to Camp Director and/or Dean of Students in order to prevent injuries or damage.
· Responsible for completing and the timely submission of all program reports relative to this position, including but not limited to supply requests, lesson plans, incident and accident reports, camper evaluations and summer evaluations.
· Participate and assist in GS Parents Day and Graduation.

Water Safety Instructors will attentively and safely provide instruction for BCNY’s ‘Learn to Swim’ program, facilitate swimming activities to fulfill program goals, and build appropriate relationships among members and staff. · Runs Red Cross ‘Learn to Swim’ programs for members ages 6-20.
· As directed by the Aquatics Director, develops and writes creative and cooperative age-appropriate activity plans for swimming pool activities.
· Assures that his/her activity plans are implemented at their scheduled times and that participants progress into higher levels of swimming and water-based experiences.
· Takes initiative in recognizing and responding to opportunities for problem solving among participants in swimming pool areas.
· Insures that all necessary Incident Reports and other written reports are completed on a daily basis.

TYPICAL DAY IN THE LIFE Water Safety Instructors
Water Safety Instructors will attentively and safely provide instruction for BCNY’s ‘Learn to Swim’ program, facilitate swimming activities to fulfill program goals, and build appropriate relationships among members and staff. · Runs Red Cross ‘Learn to Swim’ programs for members ages 6-20.
· As directed by the Aquatics Director, develops and writes creative and cooperative age-appropriate activity plans for swimming pool activities.
· Assures that his/her activity plans are implemented at their scheduled times and that participants progress into higher levels of swimming and water-based experiences.
· Takes initiative in recognizing and responding to opportunities for problem solving among participants in swimming pool areas.
· Insures that all necessary Incident Reports and other written reports are completed on a daily basis.
COMPETENCIES Oral Communication, Organizational Support, Safety and Security, Adaptability, Dependability
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE College credits and at least 1 year youth program experience as a pool lifeguard, instructor or comparable experience; Demonstrated leadership ability in an educational, social service and/or youth development settings; Familiarity with principles of supervision, organization, and maintenance; Current Water Safety Certification is a must; First Aid and CPR Certification; Experience working with children is a must.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS A swimming test will be part of the interview. Hired applicants must have valid certification, physical and TB test prior to start of program.
